What is degradable plastic?

Degradation of plastics is a large concept which refers to the loss of certain properties (such as integrity, molecular weight, structural or mechanical strength) and/or cracking of plastics resulting from a significant change in the chemical structure of the material over a period of time and involving one or more steps under specified environmental conditions. Among them, photodegradable plastic, thermo-oxygen degradable plastic belongs to broken plastic, should not be attributed to biodegradable plastic. Degradable plastics should be tested using standard test methods that can reflect the change of performance, and the classification should be determined according to the degradation mode and service cycle. Generally speaking, the degradation of plastics without combining the types of plastics and their degradation environmental conditions does not mean that such plastics can be completely degraded into environmentally harmless substances.
